Day 28 - Tuesday 6 June 2017
Falmouth to Veryan (13.3 miles)
The wind had clearly got up overnight - so much so that our initial thought on waking up was would the ferries from Falmouth & St Mawes be running today. As it happened they were cancelled until further notice - to be honest, this was one of the scenarios we had worried about and sad to say it had happened. During breakfast we mulled over our options - basically we were stuffed unless we paid a fortune for a taxi in which to make the 25 odd mile trip around to Place. Michael our host had overheard our musings and very kindly offered to run us around to Place - he said give him an hour to sort out the pub and we would leave. What a hero - he saved the day.
We left for Place at about 0945 and started walking about an hour later - as we were only walking 13 miles today we had a little bit of time in the bank and did not need to rush - we simply called our B&B to advise them of our ETA. Near Porthbeor Beach we stopped to chat with a chap who was walking the path but was doing "out & backs" from his Camper Van - therefore when he finishes he will have effectively walked the path in both directions. We decided to have our main meal for the day in Portscatho at The Plume of Feathers - this would save us having to find somewhere tonight. Therefore we had a lovely meal of Crab & Brie Sarnies with Chips - sat outside in the sun.
Leaving Portscatho we met a wild camper near Creek Stephen Point - he was off to a campsite near Portscatho and we therefore gave him directions and wished him well. Stopped for Ice Cream and Diet Coke at Shallikabooky Cafe at Pendower Beach. Leaving the cafe, we met a couple from the USA - gave them Nav advice as they appeared to be ambling about the beach lost. The area in and around Nare Head was extremely muddy but not as bad as the path to our B&B which was very overgrown. Arrived at Broom Parc about 1730 and received a lovely welcome from Lindsay - we were the only guests staying here in this charming property. More about its history tomorrow.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man.
