Walk Description
Dull and overcast in the Far Eastern Fells today but undeterred we bundled up 2 walks into one and ascended firstly Steel Knotts and then Beda Fell. There are several parking places to be had at the Church and this is an ideal place to start these walks and also the Hallin Fell walk.
The ascent of Steel Knotts is on a good path and is gradual in its gradient as you cut across the fell before switching back to gain the summit where there are great views over Ullswater and the surrounding fells. We then made our way back down the way we came and headed over Howegrain Beck to ascend Winter Crag and join the ridge to Beda Fell. Even with todays dull weather this is a fine ridge walk and from Beda Head continues to Angletarn Pikes should you wish to walk a bit further.
Overall a nice walk over two of the lesser known fells but good exercise all the same.
