Walk Description
We had a days rest today but by late afternoon were feeling like a quick walk out therefore as we were in Keswick we drove out to Braithwaite for a jaunt up Barrow. Braithwaite has plenty of places to park and it is just a question of probably parking on the road as you enter the village from the A66. The route heads through Braithwaite and on reaching the road to Braithwaite Lodge heads up the track and onto the open fell side. The walk up Barrow is quite steep and as height is gained so the views over the adjacent fells really open out and before you know it the summit is reached.
From Barrow summit we dropped down to Barrow Door and headed up to Stile End before making the descent back to Braithwaite. To extend this walk you could head up Outerside from Barrow Door and then come back to Braithwaite via Stile End. All in all a nice little jaunt up a delightful fell and ended in style with a nice pint at The Coledale Inn.
