Walk Description
It was absolutely baking today therefore we left it late to drive over to British Camp from the Caravan Site at Hanley Swan - but it was still hot! This was a short walk of just under 3 miles with modest ascent to take in the lovely views over Malvern from Herefordshire Beacon and the surrounding hills. There is a very large car park at British Camp just opposite The Malvern Hills Hotel and it was here where we started the walk from. The path wends its way along the Three Choirs Way to reach the Shire Ditch at Broad Down and from here we headed downhill to then regain the ridge at Hangman's Hill.
From Hangman's Hill there is a glorious ridge walk to Millenium Hill and then to the Summit of Herefordshire Beacon, also known as British Camp which is a British Iron Age Hill Fort Earthwork and is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument. There are good views from the summit and the path leaves the top and makes its way gently back down to the Car Park and a welcome beer in the hotel!
