Day 0 - Wednesday 7 May 2014
Arrival in Ilkley
We had already been up in the Lake District for a couple of days and had enjoyed a really nice stay in The Old Vicarage B&B in Ambleside and had warmed up for The Dales Way yesterday with a favourite walk of ours, The Fairfield Horseshoe. Leaving The Old Vicarage, we had a quick retail therapy mooch around Ambleside and then made our way over to Bowness to Fairfield House B&B who were very kindly allowing us to leave our car there for the duration of the walk.
We had arranged through our baggage transfer company, Brigantes to be transferred over to Ilkley in order to start the walk. Therefore at 1400 on the dot our driver very kindly picked us up from Fairfield House and took us over to Ilkley in the pouring rain. By the time we arrived in Ilkley the rain had abated and we settled in and had a bite to eat before meeting up with one of Dave's old friends who came over from Leeds to meet us. After some last minute checking of kit we were fully ready to start the walk tomorrow.

Overnight Accommodation
Riverside Hotel, Ilkley - http://www.ilkley-riversidehotel.com
Our room was comfortable and the breakfast was satisfactory - no frills. We ate here the previous evening too and the food (particularly the Pizza) was wholesome. They have several real ales and the bar is both comfortable and dog friendly.
