Route Map
Looking back to the parking area and the Ford which crosses Carrock Beck
Heading to West Fell
No one here today but us - looking back towards the start
An impatient Fudge waits as we head gently up the fell side
His favourite terrain - grassy paths and lots of space to muck about
The upper workings of Driggeth Mine - the mine started yielding lead and copper in 1790
Our route of ascent to the left with Carrock Fell to the right
Up on the summit of High Pike
The summit of High Pike - a shelter, trig point and a stone seat - what more could one want?
The stone shelter, seat & Trig Point on the summit of High Pike.
The seat used to be a wrought iron version but has since been replaced with this fine stone one which is a memorial to Mick Lewis who died aged 16 years on 8 May 1944.

As is tradition.......
The summit of High Pike looking to Carrock Fell
It was a bit nippy up here as the frost on the Trig Point Toposcope can verify
Looking to the Skiddaw range over the top of Knott - Great Calva peeps out to the left
On the Cumbria Way now as we head towards Drygill Head - Bowscale Fell is to the left with Blencathra dead centre
Looking back to High Pike from near Red Gate
Straight on for Miton Hill, Round Knott & Carrock Fell - we headed left to drop down to the start via the track of Red Gate
The Red Gate path rounds the contours of Miton Hill before dropping gradually to meet Carrock Beck
