Route Map
The walk today started from the Gwydir Forest Car Park near Llyn Crafnant
Chugging up the zig zagging forest track near Cae Crwn
Looking to a snowy Moel Siabod with the Daear Ddu ridge to the left
After a pleasant but icy amble along the ridge a ladder stile is crossed to continue the path to Creigiau Gleision North Top
The icy summit of Creigiau Gleision North Top
From Creigiau Gleision North Top there is a fantastic view over Llyn Cowlyd Reservoir to Pen Llithrig y Wrach
Despite the poor light the visibility was still pretty good today
From the North Top it was approximately half a mile along the ridge to reach Creigiau Gleision
Apart from seeing a few people on Creigiau Gleision North Top we had the entire ridge to ourselves
Approaching Creigiau Gleision
The icy summit cairn on Creigiau Gleision
Another look at Pen Llithrig y Wrach, this time from Creigiau Gleision
My walking companions on the summit of Creigiau Gleision - Fudge, Lee, Angie & Karen
Looking back to Creigiau Gleision North Top
The snowy transit to Craiglwyn
This entire ridge was an absolute delight today - one to be repeated on a better day
The summit of Craiglwyn
I'm starving - anything in the rucksack??
The top of the saddle between Craiglwyn and Craig Wen - time to descend.
With the snow now gone the descent, whilst steep was a lot easier as we handrailed the wall down the mountain.
Llyn Crafnant is the body of water ahead and the Car Park was at the far end of it.

Heading along the quiet road back to Llyn Crafnant and the Car Park
The obelisk monument at the north eastern end of Llyn Crafnant
The monument reads 'Erected by the inhabitants of Llanrwst to commemorate the gift to that town, of this lake with 19 acres of land and Llnllwyd Cottage by Richard James Esq. Dyffryn Au Llanrwst A.D. 1896.' At the time of the monument's erection water was given free to Llanrwst from Llyn Crafnant. Now the lake is leased to the nearby cafe and as there is no mains water up here, water can be short in drought.
