Walk Description

Up in the Yorkshire Dales therefore what better way to spend a day than getting up Ingleborough, one of the fine hills on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. We started in the small village of Clapham and made our way out past Ingleborough Caves and up the abandoned meltwater gorge of Trow Gill. Once we climbed out of the gill, we made our way up the pleasant path to Little Ingleborough and onto the Summit itself. The Summit of Ingleborough is a large, flat expanse of grass and stone and there are fantastic views of both Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside and beyond to the Lake District. There is also a marvellous view over to Dent Viaduct.

Leaving the Summit, we made our way down to Sulber to the right of Simon Fell before reaching the signpost that takes you back to Clapham.  Passing Long Scar, the walk back is a really pleasant amble on an excellent path all the way back to Clapham. Another great walk.
